GET EXCITED: Les Mis – Schools Edition

It’s the musical which encourages you to dream the dream and hear the people sing, and it’s now being performed by over forty young people from across the Waveney area.

The award-winning musical, adapted from Victor Hugo’s novel, is set in revolutionary France and tells the story of Jean Valjean and his quest for redemption. Boasting fantastic music by Schönberg featuring classics such as ‘One Day More’, ‘Stars’, and ‘On My Own’, the show is a big challenge for the company, but under the helm of Mim Coleman (director), Charlotte Wood (choreographer), and Frankie Ayers (musical director), the production is looking to be a winner.

This is the seventh production the company, set up by five students, have produced, with highlights across the years including their first production Oliver (2010), NODA-award-winning Peter Pan (2013), The Wizard of Oz (2014), and last year’s Pinocchio. The company runs on the philosophy that their productions are both by and for young people, and the company has watched the young people in the cast and crew alike grow in confidence and ability over their time with the company -whether that be months or years.
